The birds.
The Madagascar Fody (sren or Kardinal) is very common around the hotel. Males in their breeding plumage are bright scarlet, while females are much duller. |

Around the margins of the pools Green-backed Heron (Makak or Manik) may be seen, hunched and motionless waiting for a fish to pass within range of his dagger-like beak. |

In the tree canopy may be seen Seychelles Blue Pigeon, (Pizon Olande Sesel), a species unique to Seychelles. Its Kreol name, Dutch Pigeon, comes from the red, white and blue plumage of the bird., the Dutch tricolour being the only one flying in the Indian Ocean during the early years of the Settlement of Seychelles.
